Monarch Season

Oct 5th, 2008 by Leisa Pichard | 0

Since many of you have children and are interested in butterfly gardening, I thought you might be interested in what’s happening with the monarch research that happens each year about this time. My friend David Cook works for Fish and Wildlife and keeps me in the loop. If you’d like to get in touch with [...]

Gardening Innovation at its Finest

Sep 28th, 2008 by Julanne Rutten | 1

Many of you may remember my sister-in-law Mary who has attended several Wisteria meetings. Mary and I share a love of gardening, and when we get together, conversation always turns to what’s blooming in the garden, what’s worked, and what hasn’t. I always learn something new.
Mary has always been innovative and resourceful, and now she’s really [...]

Lincoln Fall Plant Sale

Sep 25th, 2008 by Leisa Pichard | 0

I’m sure you remember the wonderful program and plant sale Jim West of Lincoln High School gave at our end-of-the-year party at Peggy’s. Jim recently sent the list of plants for the fall plant sale. Go Wisteria girls, leaders of [...]

Raised Beds: Pins and Needles

Aug 23rd, 2008 by Leisa Pichard | 1

I don’t know about you, but I’m super excited about our program this year featuring Julanne’s raised bed garden. From what I’ve heard raised beds offer a really productive approach to gardening. Unfortunately, the program doesn’t occur until the spring. In the meantime, I’m compulsively looking at the pictures on this website: http://www.mastergardenproducts.com/raisedbed.htm
I love the [...]

Recycling/Reuse Gone Too Far

Aug 21st, 2008 by Julanne Rutten | 0

I am certainly a proponent of recycling and reuse. I use cloth shopping bags, have not one but two recycling bins, and earnestly do my part to take care of our fragile earth. In my zeal to do the right thing, however, I recently learned a valuable life lesson which I feel duty bound to [...]
